To show our appreciation of our team leaders and the job they do, Birmingham APA hosts special tournaments each year that only our Team Captains and Co-Captains can participate in. Specific dates, times, and locations for these tournaments will be posted and found on our website calendar. Below are some details regarding upcoming Captains/Co-Captain Tournaments and the specific Sessions in which they will be held.
 
 

 
 

CAPTAINS / CO-CAPTAIN CHALLENGE

Summer Session Appreciation Tournament - Singles

FREE ENTRY for all active Captains and Co-Captains! This challenge for our team leaders will be held each Summer Session in recognition and appreciation for all our Birmingham APA Captains and Co-Captains! Over $1,000.00 in Prize Monies and Door Prizes will be awarded and given away.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
   - Players MUST have at least 5 lifetime matches in either format.
   - Players MUST be listed as a current Summer team Captain, or Co-Captain, as of WEEK 8.
   - Players MUST be in good standings with ALL team fees & dues paid up to date. 

Tournament 
Details:
   - Held in our Summer Session - Specific dates and deadlines will be posted on our website calendar.
   - FREE entry fee with a limit of 32 entries per skill level bracket.
   - All players MUST pre-register for a slot to play and sign-in on the day of the tourney.
   - Singles tournament matched up by skill levels.
   - Modified-Single Bracket - guaranteed to play twice.
   - Double Jeopardy "Be-A-3" format - everyone plays as a 3 skill level.
     First round, and rounds on the Winner's side of the bracket, will play a race to 2 in 8-Ball.
     Rounds on the Loser's side will play a race to 25 in 9-Ball.
   - Sharking and smack talking are allowed. (as long as it doesn't get vulgar or personal).
   - There will be NO sharking and smack talking in money rounds.
   - Number of prizes and places paid will be determined by the amount of entries.

CAPTAIN / CO-CAPTAIN CLASH

Fall Session Tournament - Shape Partners
 
You make a good pair but are you ready to get it on? This battle will be held each Fall Session to see which dynamic duos can work together to secure victory on the pool table. Prize monies and trophies will be awarded to the winning teams based on the amount of teams participating.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
   - Both partners MUST have at least 5 lifetime matches in this format.
   - Both partners MUST be listed as a current Fall team Captain, or Co-Captain, as of WEEK 8.
   - Both partners MUST be in good standings with ALL team fees & dues paid up to date.
 
Tournament Details:
   - Held in our Fall Session - Specific dates and deadlines will be posted on our website calendar.
   - $30 per team entry fee with a limit of 32 team entries.
   - All entry fees must be paid by the tournament date.
   - Registered "No Show" teams will still owe their entry fees. 
   - All teams MUST pre-register for a slot to play and sign-in on the day of the tourney.
   - 8-Ball Scotch Doubles tournament matched up by combined total skill levels.
   - Modified-Single Bracket - guaranteed to play twice.
   - Teams must consist of one Captain and one Co-Captain (can be from different teams).
   - Players participating may only play on one Doubles team in this tournament.
   - Total combined skill level points of Captain and Co-Captain is limited to 12 points.
   - Players' current skill levels, at the time of the registration deadline, will be used.
   - Only 1 Time-Out per game - no talking to your partner when at the table shooting.
   - Match Races - based on 8-Ball skill levels
        Total Team Points = 11 to 12    Race to 5 games
        Total Team Points =  9  to 10    Race to 4 games
        Total Team Points =  7  to  8     Race to 3 games
        Total Team Points =  6  or less  Race to 2 games
   - Sharking and smack talking are allowed. (as long as it doesn't get vulgar or personal).
   - There will be NO sharking and smack talking in money rounds. 
   - Number of prizes and places paid will be determined by the amount of entries.

Spring Session Tournament - Shape Partners (with a twist)
 
Have you ever wondered how you would play with someone else? This extreme matchup of Captains and Co-Captains will be held each Spring Session and each team will be determined by a blind drawPrize Monies and Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams based on the amount of teams participating.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
   - Players MUST have at least 5 lifetime matches in this format.
   - Players MUST be listed as a current Spring team Captain, or Co-Captain as of WEEK 8.
   - Players MUST be in good standings with ALL team fees & dues paid up to date. 
 
Tournament Details:
   - Held in our Spring Session - Specific dates and deadlines will be posted on our website calendar.
   - $15 per person entry fee with a limit of 64 players.
   - All players MUST pre-register for a slot to play and sign-in on the day of the tourney.
   - 9-Ball Scotch Doubles tournament matched up by combined total skill levels.
   - Teams will be determined by a Blind Draw.
   - For fairness, the draw will be based on skill levels so total team points will NOT exceed 12 points.
        Skill level 9 -  drawn from skill levels 1-3
        Skill level 8 -  drawn from skill levels 2-4
        Skill level 7 -  drawn from skill levels 3-5
        Skill level 6 -  drawn from skill levels 4-6 
   - Modified-Single Bracket - guaranteed to play twice.
   - Players participating may only play on one doubles team in this tournament.
   - Only 1 Time-Out per game - no talking to your partner when at the table shooting
   - Match Races - based on 8-Ball skill levels
        Total Team Points = 12    Race to 46 points
        Total Team Points = 11    Race to 38 points
        Total Team Points = 10    Race to 31 points
   - Sharking and smack talking are allowed. (as long as it doesn't get vulgar or personal).
   - There will be NO sharking and smack talking in money rounds. 
   - Number of prizes and places paid will be determined by the amount of entries.
